Dentures in Lawrenceville

Types of Dentures

There are complete and partial dentures

Complete dentures can be fitted right after teeth are removed. These are ‘Immediate Dentures.’  They are fitted over your gums while they are healing. This healing phase usually takes 6 months, and may need relining, adjusting or replacing due to your gums shrinking. The other time is called ‘conventional denture.’ This denture process usually starts about 8 to 12 weeks after gum tissue healing.

Partial Denture is another type of removable denture that replaces teeth with the support of teeth or teeth and gums.

Dentures are removable oral appliances that replace missing teeth. If you are missing teeth and are having trouble eating comfortably or speaking clearly, dentures might be a solution for you.

It will take time and training your mouth muscles to get use to eating with your dentures. Start with a soft diet and chew with both sides of your mouth to prevent the denture from moving.  When you become more used to the denture, you could start adding “tougher” foods into your diet.

Practice speaking in front of a mirror. It will take time to get used to certain speech sounds.

You must brush and soak your denture every day. Soak your dentures every day in a denture-cleaning solution. This is used to remove any plaque and stains left on the denture.

Do NOT wear your dentures overnight unless your dentist advise you to do so.
